I guess it was fun in the beginning, but maybe I'm getting a little more cynical and depressed nowadays... Games are blah, anime is blah, weather sucks here in NJ, < insert another random excuse here > Maybe I really need to get some sleep (lol, yeah, I know that goes against my name) and think some things over.
Feel free to un-friend/remove me, since I probably won't be posting much on other people's LJs.
I sometimes lurk around on IRC on #beastslair @ mint.sayuri.ca:6667 and you can always send me a message over AIM (lemmingz01) or MSN (lemming34@hotmail.com).
Things might get interesting once my internet starts working again (it's been really on-and-off for the past month) and school starts again (early September). |

I was hoping to get there at 9AM, but one of the volunteer managers decided that I should wake up at 5AM and get there at 6AM instead. Well, at least I got to direct traffic and got a free t-shirt... Volunteered at the auction booths afterwards until 1PM, then went home and took a 3 hour nap. For some reason, I woke up with a horrible migraine and couldn't eat/walk for a few hours :( Took two Tylenol, got a little to eat, and went to sleep early... |

| | KOTOKO - loose | ] | Final Fantasy VIII is soooo slow. - I mean, the GF animations take forever (yes, I know you're supposed to use boost during the animation) and the junction system is annoying. I thought transferring materia combinations in FF7 between characters was bad...now I have worry about transferring spells/GF between party members so they can get the perfect arrangement. - And what's with the use of the "Draw" system for magic? It's retarded and makes it so you waste hours of time just stocking up on spells. And without Haste, it takes forever. Innovative, but not very attractive. - It's even worse when you have characters that can't Draw a certain spell, but you don't want to kill the enemy (so you can Draw until your hand breaks), so you just skip their turn over and over again. No universal Defend command = NO - Oh, and I finally won my first few card games...yay, I'm not a total noob now :P

1) I attend the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (in case you didn't read my profile). I'm currently a Biochemistry major/pre-med
2) I absolutely loathe washing dishes...just a random thing that really annoys me.
3) I'm a Type-Moon fan, as you can probably tell from my LJ background, icon, and title :P
4) I'm also an I've Sound fan, although I've started listening to more English music lately, so I haven't gone through my entire I've Sound collection in a very very long time.
5) I have no pants. Actually, I just had to throw away a pair of $35 jeans since I ripped a huge hole in them from falling off a roof (see previous entries)
6) Haruhi is simply awesome. Utawaremono is quite entertaining as well. (I'm currently watching those two anime series, as well as Bleach, Blood+, and Fate/Stay Night)
7) I'm not an alcoholic, though I was retarded enough to get drunk on the same day that my parents came over to take me back home...at least they didn't skin me alive...
8) I love to play CS, especially on Iceworld and Deathmatch servers. I used to be in team -= dB =- but I decided that having to play CS regularly was pointless and a waste of time. But if you ever see someone with the name "ascendant13," "recallx," or "by a lemming"...say hi to me :)
Well...even though I'm supposed to list 6 names, I doubt that anyone will even read/follow these instructions, so I'm leaving it open to anyone. Just leave a comment on this entry to show that you're going to perpeutate the randomness :D |

My my, look at the time...it's about 6AM (and yes, I've been awake the whole time :P ) I basically started playing Counter-Strike, and was doing extremely well (getting AWP aces, ridiculous reflex shots, double pistol headshots, etc.) so I was glued to my laptop until 5:30AM. I was mostly playing Deathmatch servers and then fy_iceworld maps. At that point, I realized that my parents would get very angry if they woke up for work and I was still awake. Decided to take a shower since I feel dirty and I just bought new bedsheets (100% Egyptian cotton <3 ).
Random thought: Haruhi is like happy, sugary crack. Except that it's slightly more legal to take XD
I also bought a new pair of headphones, the Sony MDR-EX51LP earbuds (Amazon.com reference). Since I had some BestBuy gift certs from a while ago, I had to spend a whopping $40 for the headphones (when I could have bought them much cheaper online). Overall, the earbuds do a nice job of blocking off external noise since they fit nicely into your ear canal, and as usual, the sound quality is very good. Too bad it doesn't come with a full headphone case...
And I'm currently also hooked on Final Fantasy VII, which took 3 hours to figure how to work on a Windows XP/Radeon X300 laptop...but it's sooooo worth it.

| | relieved | ] | So instead of studying/essaying like I should have, I decided to go out with some friends to go climb rooftops. So basically we finally found an open door and climbed out onto the roof of the Michigan Union (yay!). We had to climb up some dirty ledges to reach the top of this one tower, which was the highest spot that we could reach. After pretty much wandering around the rooftops of West Quad/Michigan Union, we decided to head back by going through an open window. There was this one part where we had to either jump down or slide down the shingles on the roof to reach the window. I decided that running down the shingles was the best way and I fell onto what I thought was a flat surface. Well...I guess there must have been a sharp object there since I had a foot-long rip in my jeans and a hole in my knee. Like, right down to the bone :(
Went to the University Hospital emergency room, waited for an hour, got some X-rays, waited for another hour, then I got the wound rinsed out with saline solution, then got it all stitched up. 10 stitches. But at least the wound didn't even hurt at all... It was really cool how after they washed the wound with saline, I could see the white fat tissue and the bone underneath. Fortunately, I didn't rip any tendons, or it would have been a lot worse.
Guess I won't be moving my left knee for a while...

My orgo chem grade is going to shit, since NMR is really confusing and mass spectroscopy is equally as annoying (and it's the reason why I failed my test last Friday). Oh well, first midterm is next Tuesday, which means I better get my act together...
But at least I dropped out of my History 161 class and switch to Bio 120 (seminar) instead. I mean, for the history class, I had to read like 200 pages each week and have 9AM class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which sucked too. Now, with my biology seminar, my first class on Tuesday is at 1PM and my first class on Thursday is at 10AM :D The only good thing I got out of the history class was that I started reading The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. It's rather well-known in the US, and it's a fantastically revealing and graphic book about the meatpacking industry in during the late 19th century. (Heck, it was so powerful that it lead to the creation of the FDA)

Instead of getting some fancy, expensive Xbox 360, mp3 player, etc., I just got some winter clothes and even then I didn't want a $300 wool coat that my parents really wanted me to get.
Went to the King of Prussia mall on Monday, which took the entire day and most of that time was spent waiting for our table at the Cheesecake Factory (yay!). The food there is really good, although it's pretty expensive. And obviously, I finished the meal with a delicious cheesecake (the Kahlua Creme Cheesecake, in case you were wondering). Also went stargazing with my dad's (expensive) telescope :P It's actually pretty neat how easy it is to identify stars and constellations and with the telescope, we got to see the rings of Saturn and stars in the Pleiades (7 bright blue stars).
And of course, I played a lot of RO and some CS over the break. Mostly RO XD (FYI: I play on the EuphRO private server) Yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised when my bro actually called the leader of his guild, who lives over in Canada :P And then, one of my guildmates called our house on my brother's cellphone :D Too bad she doesn't have a cellphone of her own... <3 <3 Prontera Army, the weirdest, most perverted guild on all of EuphRO XD

Well, at least the week ended well... Yesterday, after math class ended at 2PM, I went back to my room and watched some episodes of GTO with my roommate and some friends. Apparently, his Japanese teacher had the 1st GTO DVD, which was pretty cool. Took a nap afterwards and went to the CCF Christmas Banquet, which was awesome. The people were really nice and the skits that they performed were hilarious. The food was good (anything is good compared with dorm food) and it was great meeting new people and hanging out with friends from my hall.
Afterwards, went back and chilled in my room until 11PM, and then we went to go sledding with friends. I was thinking about the fact that none of us had sleds. Fortunately, we had: -plastic garbage bags, which actually worked -dining hall food trays, which proved to be even faster than normal sleds Tried to surf down the hill on the trays, and hit my knees and elbows in the process since I kept falling off (trust me, it's really hard). Went back to my room around midnight and relaxed and drank hot cocoa, since it was below freezing the whole time we were outside.
And then we watched the Sound of Music until 3:30 XD So many good songs... |

Anyways, I think I did alright on the math midterm. I know I made 2 careless errors (one involving natural log and one involving proving e) but at least I was correct in assuming that the normal distribution graph is symmetrical around the mean [/feels smart]
However, I still have to read 100+ pages of Thucydides History of the Peloponnesian War as well as study for yet another Chinese quiz tomorrow. Oh well, at least I was pwning in CS today (24-4 record on cs_italy and I got called a "hax0r" :P) and my mage in RO is level 62/47 and has uber equips.

And the week would've been perfect had it not been for the fact that Chem SSG (from 5-7PM on Wed) was a bitch this week. Not only did I get a "U" (unsatisfactory) on my work because of this:

So yeah...I've been pretty damn busy lately, and it got so bad on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning that I got somewhat depressed and extremely pessimistic. It's definitely a horrible feeling and I feel like shit treating myself like that and acting all pissed off to my friends for something that was my own damn fault.
So this is how my week went:
Sunday: Wake up at 2PM b/c I slept at like 4AM, work on my Chinese essay for most of the rest of the day. Then finished most of my math homework and went to bed ~1AM (couldn't sleep that well)
Monday: Classes from 10AM till 2PM, then I went straight to the library to read Aeschylus's Oresteia, which took a while and was pretty difficult. Then I worked on my essay straight from 5PM till 11PM (took an hour to eat dinner and shower). Then helped out some of my friends, and because I'm definitely too nice to them, I ended up giving math homework help until ~2AM. Then, since I had made absolutely no real progress on my essay so far I went up to the 9th floor study room and worked on my essay till 4AM.
Tuesday: Classes from 9AM till 2PM. I basically locked myself in my room with a large sign saying "DO NOT KNOCK IF THE DOOR IS CLOSED"...and people still knocked for math help since the midterm was on Wednesday. I had a Chinese test the next day where I had to memorize two paragraphs from a dialogue in our textbook, so I did that for about 1 1/2 hours. I also had Chem SSG homework that took an hour to finish. Finally finished the essay at 1AM (yes, it took me that long) and my awesome roommate did an edit of my essay. I was so tired that I only got through 1/2 the edits. Then I read the Oresteia for discussion class the next day, which I finished ~3AM. And I still hadn't studied for my math midterm
Wednesday: Classes from 9AM till 2PM. Skipped my orgo chem lecture so that I could finish the rest of the Chem SSG homework (some acid/base stuff). Finally got around to studying for the midterm, did that until 4PM. Went to dinner and then I had Chem SSG from 5-7PM. Had to leave SSG 45min early because the math midterm started at 6:30PM. Was pretty confident about the test but I fucked up on some work problems and that messed me up. Test finished at 8PM and I chilled in my room until 11PM, continued reading the Oresteia and then I played CS until 2AM (cuz I was so relieved at this point)
Thursday: Overslept through half of my 9AM lecture (about the Oresteia), came back, finished my calculations/prelab for orgo lab and then took a nap until 12:30. Ate lunch really quickly and went to lab from 1-5PM. Turns out that I'm on clean-up duty in the lab, so I got out at 5:30PM. Came back but had to leave again for a meeting at 6PM to work on my oral presentation in Chinese for the next day. Finished at ~9PM. Grabbed some dinner on the way back and practiced my dialogue until 11PM, then started reading the Oresteia till 1AM.
Just finished watching the movie Audition (it's a Japanese film with English subtitles)...and I have to say that I may be mentally scarred for life. Ugh, I can't believe my roommate watched that film 2 times already...it's so fucked up and like "HOLY SHIT WTF?!" near the end. Lol, just thinking about one of the parts makes me cringe...
Oh, and I got an 83% on my math midterm. Crap. |
